Useful hints
Meeting point
You can meet the guide in different points of the city of Bergamo. In addition to the hotel you are staying at, we recommend the following meeting points for groups arriving by bus:
- In the upper town (Città Alta) in Largo Colle Aperto or at the upper station of the funicular in Piazza Mercato delle Scarpe. ATTENTION! Buses are allowed to pass through Porta Sant'Agostino to get into the Upper Town only if less than 3.50 m high and without cart or trailer.
- In the Lower Town (città bassa) in Piazzale degli Alpini, near the bus station; here the guide gets on your bus and then get off with the group nearby the funicular station. Once you get off, you can choose to reach the Upper Town by funicular, or by local bus, or even on foot, along the medieval staircases that lead to the Venetian Walls (about 15 minutes walk uphill).
Bus parking
Once the bus has left the group, it can be parked in Bergamo Bassa. The official toll parking is in via Rovelli n. 30 and is managed by ATB, Azienda Trasporti Bergamo. ATB can also provide a return shuttle to Città Alta scheduling time and fares. It needs to be booked a few days before. Funicular
The lower station of the funicular is in Viale Vittorio Emanuele II, 60 and arrives in Piazza Mercato della Scarpe. This is the most used, privileged and panoramic access to the Upper Town.
From Città Alta you can also reach an higher hill (collina di San Vigilio) with a second funicular that starts from Largo di Porta S. Alessandro.

Public toilets
You can find toll public toilets:
- In the Lower Town at the bus station.
- In the Upper Town at Torre di Adalberto in Colle Aperto, in Piazza Vecchia or in Via Mario Lupo.
For groups arriving by bus, it is advisable to make a toilet stop on the highway before reaching Bergamo.
